The 39th Annual Klondike Rush is set for this Saturday morning.
Considered the oldest 10K/5K run in the state of Wyoming, it’s been a popular race for a number of years according to Tim Cahhal of the Johnson County Family YMCA…
Cahhal credits the vision of three local runners with starting the event back in 1978…
In addition to the 10K and 5K routes, there is a shorter route for younger runners.
This year, a 10K volksmarch walk has been added for those who would prefer to “walk” the route.
Those interested in participating in the event may register on the day of the race or online at klondikerush.jcfymca.org.
The Johnson County Family YMCA will be closing next week for its annual maintenance work.
The facility will be closed to the public from August 6th and will re-open on Monday, August 14th.
Extensive renovations were part of the maintenance week a year ago, but this year’s maintenance will be in a much smaller scale, involving painting and some masonry repairs are planned.
IN addition, some final work on the roof above the pool is planned, including sealing the windows of the pool area.
One final project for the coming week will include grout work on the tiles in the swimming pool.
The YMCA’s summer program will not be affected by next week’s closing.
