9-Year-Old Killed in Crash

Press Release – A fatal crash west of Cheyenne, Wyoming has resulted in the death of nine year old Littleton, Colorado resident Makayla Grigg. The crash occurred on November 24th at 6:15 p.m. near mile post 360 on US Highway 30 at the intersection with the Interstate 80 Exit 358 off ramp approximately one mile west of Cheyenne.

Makayla Grigg was a passenger in a 2006 Ford Taurus passenger car that was driven by 15 year old Kendra Grigg who was legally operating the Ford Taurus on an instructional permit license. The Ford Taurus entered the intersection from the off ramp and failed to yield to a 2009 Ford F-150 pickup truck that was westbound on US 30. The westbound pickup was driven by 35 year old Cheyenne resident Brandon Houseman. The two vehicles collided in a 90 degree broadside “T-bone” crash.

Makayla Grigg sustained fatal injuries on scene.

Kendra Grigg and 45 year old Phillip Grigg were taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center by ground ambulance and were treated and released. Five year old Kaytlyn Grigg was taken by helicopter ambulance to Denver Children’s Hospital and was hospitalized.

Brandon Houseman was not injured.

All involved in this crash were properly restrained during the crash.

Driver inattention is being investigated as the contributing factor in this crash that marked the 103rd highway fatality in Wyoming for 2016. There were 138 fatalities during this same time period in 2015.
