Friday Fire Updates

Three fires are burning in our immediate region in Northeastern Wyoming. As we've previously mentioned, the Roane Creek Fire is burning about 2 1/2 miles south of US 14A on the western side of the Bighorns. Another fire known as the Pack Fire is about 10 miles north of Burgess Junction in rural terrain. Both were lightning caused. Smoke jumpers were on the scene of the second fire this morning and came from West Yellowstone to assist.

The third fire (the location of which is pictured above) in the area is the Lodge Grass Basin fire in the Montana portion of the Bighorns. It is located about 2 hours west of Crow Agency, near Tepee Pole Ridge. Two helicopters dumped thousands of gallons of water on the fire Thursday.

Multiple agencies are helping with that fire, a crew from the Crow Reservation, and Hotshots from Craig, Colorado. Hotshots from the BLM, and a Red Lodge, MT, Fire engine are also assisting, along with a private engine from Poplar, MT, and helicopters from Lewiston, MT, and Custer, SD.
