On 10/06/2018 at approximately 2309 hours, Sheridan Police Department Officers responded to a
report of a structure fire in the 600 block of Gladstone St. Upon further investigation, it was determined
that the fire was started by arson. A fire appeared to be started in a small garage behind a residence. It
was also determined that two vehicles had been broken into, to include one vehicle to have had a broken
window. The on call CID Detective was notified and responded to the scene. Sheridan Fire Rescue also
responded and began an arson investigation.

A second call came in through 911 at approximately 0105 hours in the 100 block of W Nebraska where
home owners reported a male subject inside of their house. The home owner was able to get the male
subject outside of the house and then the male subject ran onto S Main St. Officers and Deputies with
the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office located the male subject matching that description, who the
investigation revealed was also the suspect in the earlier arson.

During the morning of 10/07/2018, two additional reports of burglary and vandalism were reported in
the 900 block of S Main St. One vehicle had its front and back windshield broken out and another vehicle
had sustained fire damage, but the fire had been put out as it was self contained within the vehicle. A
shed on another property had also been entered and items taken out and strewn on another property.

Damon King, 20 years old of Sheridan, was arrested and charged with two counts of arson in the third
degree, five counts of burglary, one count of felony property destruction and minor in possession of
alcohol. King gave a breath sample that resulted in a presumptive positive for alcohol at a .174 BAC%.

This was a collaborative investigation between the Sheridan Police Department, Sheridan Fire Rescue and the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office.
