The Wyoming Legislature’s Joint Education Committee is in the process of drafting legislation that would add computer science as a graduation requirement, similar to such standard subjects as math and English.

While computer technology is seen as necessary in developing a tech-savvy workforce, State Representative Mike Madden sees adding something to the educational “basket of goods” without a corresponding subtraction adds more cost to an already problematic school funding deficit…

He suggested that the time may have arrived for school officials to consider limiting available electives if computer technology is added as a way of holding the line on educational costs.
