The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration, or NOAA, has issued its water supply outlook for the month of February. During the month, Wyoming precipitation sat at 180% of average. Currently, mountain snowpack across the state ranges from 120-135% of average. In our neck of the woods, the Tongue and Powder River watersheds are all above average for their volumes, as evident by both of the rivers themselves being out of their banks in places. On the other side of the Bighorns, snow pack numbers were at the highest, between 135 and 155% of average.
If you were wondering why your power was out this morning in Sheridan, Montana-Dakota Utilities crews were installing new equipment at the WYO Theater. The outage was scheduled to last approximately 30 minutes, and affected customers west of Main Street. Lewis Street, closer to 5th, all the way to Badger Street, which is near Kendrick Park, were offline during the outage. The new theater building, formerly the Perkins Building, is taking shape despite being covered in plastic (the front anyway). For those new to the area, the WYO Theater is expanding and adding new space for a black box theater.
