Although Kaycee Police Chief Tadd Dickey released the name of the victim in Wednesday's incident in Kaycee that afternoon, the Johnson County Coroner's office had not completed its investigation of the incident at that time, roughly 1:30 pm that day. Superintendent Dr. Rod Kessler released a statement regarding a body of an individual found in the Kaycee School early Wednesday, which resulted in the school's closure for that day. He did not identify the person or state any other information, other than foul play was not suspected.
By late Wednesday evening, the Coroner had not released the name of the victim, although several media outlets around the state had already picked it up via the Casper Star Tribune and K2 Radio.Thursday, Coroner Dave Harness informed me that an obituary would be due out this afternoon, and stated that most of the family had been notified. In light of these two developments, I am releasing the name at this time. The victim was 46-year-old Ramah Johnson of Kaycee, who was a custodian at the school. No additional information about cause of death has been released. I appreciate your patience with me in not releasing the name until the proper time. According to the Casper Star Tribune, the Kaycee school serves about 170 students, K through 12.
