Council Tables Re-Zone

sheridan city hallThe Sheridan City Council tabled a request at last night's meeting to rezone a small portion of land at 600 KROE Lane from B-1 to M-1. The property owner, Mr. Hart, is requesting the rezone as he is looking to sell his property. The land directly to the east of Hart's property is zoned M-1 Industrial, and is known as the Shelby tract, or the old CNZ property.

Council member Steve Brantz of Ward III, expressed his thoughts about the land to the east of Hart's property, which is now used as a scrapyard...
Brantz stated the reason the property fell into its current state was due to a transitional period when the land was annexed by the City from the County. Councilman Robert Webster, also of Ward III, said if he had known the property would have been used as a scrapyard, he would not have annexed it from the County.  A property owner to the north, John Smith, also addressed Council on the issue, worrying that if the property would become M-1, it would fall into the same use as the scrapyard. Council tabled the item until the next City Council meeting in August.
