The Johnson County Commission struggled to find the best way of assisting the Johnson County Healthcare Center in meeting the latter’s loan payment that is due at the end of the year.

Hospital Administrator Nicole Hobbs appeared before the commission with a sobering declaration that that the hospital’s cash flow has worsened since she had requested a waiver of interest payments back on the first of August…

 

The county attorney’s office has provided no answer to the Commission with regards to waiving the interest charges and a myriad of other options were discussed on Tuesday morning.

Commissioner Linda Greenough suggested that whatever form of assistance is offered, there is an expectation that the hospital has done what’s necessary to cut administrative and payroll costs…

The loan was issued to the hospital on November 1st of 2015 in the amount of $3 million and the current balance is $1.7 million.

The remaining interest due on the loan is slightly more than $47,000.
