Johnson Co. Accepts OJJDP Grant

It wasn’t quite the amount they were looking for but the Johnson County’s Commissioners accepted a grant through the US Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) program that was smaller than in previous years.

Still, County Attorney Tucker Ruby recommended accepting the grant in the amount of just under $14,000…

Ruby told the Commissioners that he had expected a smaller grant amount as the total amount available to the state had been reduced by more than 60%.

However, with some counties electing not to seek continued funding through the grant, Ruby told the Commissioners that there is still a chance for a supplemental appropriation.
