Johnson County’s Special Purpose Sixth-Penny Sales Tax was retired on the last day of 2016.
The additional penny was authorized by voters to pay for the renovation and expansion of the Johnson County Library and was to end when enough funds were collected to pay for the project.

Slightly more than $3.6 million was collected by the end of last year with the remainder of the funds will come from the state of Wyoming in the coming months.
