Lawrence C. Kennedy, 71, of Sheridan, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Sheridan Memorial Hospital.  He was born July 14, 1945 in Denver, CO to Lawrence Michael and Emma Corinne (Gunsaulles) Kennedy.

Larry graduated from Aurora High School in June of 1963.  He also attended Mesa Junior College in Grand Junction, CO and Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO.  He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in January of 1965 and served with an honorable discharge.  After the service, Larry spent about six to eight months in Africa and really enjoyed his time there.  Though, he had always wished he could have returned to Africa for another visit.

In February of 1975, he moved to Sheridan and worked for Kiewit Mining and Big Horn Coal.  Larry married Kathy Elaine Erps on August 13, 1984 in Reno, NV.

He was a member of the Eagles Club.  Larry also, sat on the Board of Adjustments for the City of Sheridan.  He enjoyed reading, taking care of his tomato plants and “4 o’clock flowers.”   He and Kathy enjoyed their trips to Laughlin, NV two to three times a year until his health took its toll.  Larry loved football and was an avid Denver Broncos fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and stepdaughter, Donna Angell.  Larry is survived by his wife, Kathy; stepson, Steven Angell of Utah; two sisters, Lois Jarre and Colleen Kennedy (Richard Rasmusson) all of Colorado; nieces, Erin Kennedy of Kansas and Sally Hill of Colorado; and nephews, Stuart Neuman of Montana and Michael Neuman of Colorado.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Eagles Club, 850 N. Main St., in Sheridan.  Memorial contributions in Larry’s honor, may be made to the Sheridan Animal Shelter, 84 E.
