Lionel J. Gagner Jr., 69, of Sheridan, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at the Sheridan VA Medical Center.

Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016, at Holy Name Church with Father Robert Rogers officiating. A Reception will follow in the parish hall. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Yellowstone National Cemetery with Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund in Lionel's name has been set up at Wells Fargo Bank,

Sheridan, WY 82801.

Obituary: 

 

Lionel J. Gagner Jr., 69, of Sheridan, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at the Sheridan VA Medical Center. He was born on January 18, 1947, in Albuquerque, NM, to parents Lionel Joseph, Sr. and Alice Lea (Contant) Gagner. He married Jean Ellen Schuldt on February 6, 1971.

 

Lionel was a Registered Nurse and served as an operating room director during his 30 years of hospital and military service. He retired as a Major in the US Air Force in 2006. He was a member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses and Holy Name Church.

 

Lionel loved his family, especially his grandkids. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, woodworking, nascar races, flying planes and the Green Bay Packers.

 

Lionel was preceded in death by his parents, Lionel and Alice, and his brother, Preston Gagner. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jean, mother and father in law, Bill and Dorothy Schuldt, sister in law and brother in law, Sharon and Greg Bohnert, children, Craig Gagner of Vancouver, WA, Cory Gagner of Sheridan, WY, Kelly Gagner of Las Vegas, NV, grandchildren, Evan Gagner, Evelyn Gagner, Cameron Gagner, siblings, Bridget (Hugh) Graham, Helena (Gary) Johnson, Philip (Gaynell) Gagner, Denise Cleary Gagner, Gregory (Dorothy) Gagner along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
