A&E Axes Longmire, Still Hope for Season Four

Longmire fans were shocked today to hear the announcement that A&E has cancelled the series after only three seasons. The news comes as surprise given how popular the show was for the network, and its legion of fans in Wyoming and elsewhere. The show managed the network's highest viewership, holding six million viewers at one point during the second season.

While several insider websites including Deadline reported that the third season saw a dip in viewership, the show remained very popular. The good news is, according to multiple reports, the Warner Horizon Television program will be shopped to other channels and could see a fourth season after all.
Longmire spawned "Longmire Days" in Buffalo, which celebrated its third year this summer with the cast attending multiple events over the course of a weekend. The series is based on the novels by local author Craig Johnson. Johnson on his Facebook fan page posted "onward and upward to a better network" with an image of Longmire.
