The 65th Wyoming Legislature convened yesterday morning in Cheyenne and for the first time in 12 years, Mike Madden is not there.

Having not sought reelection last November, Madden still chaired the Legislature’s joint revenue committee during the past year and there are at least 4 bills up for consideration in this year’s four-week session.

One of those bills, according to Madden, involves a reduction in the sales tax rate of a half of a percent while broadening the tax base…

The bill would also eliminate some exemptions such as the sales tax on manufacturing equipment where most of the $10 million tax credit goes to existing manufacturers without encouraging companies to relocate to the state.
