Funeral services for Rick Verplancke, 72 year old Buffalo resident who passed away Saturday at his home north of Buffalo, will be held Monday, February 11th at 10:00 a.m. from Summit Wesleyan Church in Buffalo with Pastor William Dunlap officiating. Visitation will be held from the Harness Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.  Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with private graveside services to be held by the family. Donations in Mr. Verplancke’s memory may be made to Johnson County Home Health in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Richard Julius Verplancke was born on June 8, 1946 in Fairview, Montana to Julius and Margaret (Fleck) Verplancke and grew up on the family farm in Cartwright, North Dakota.  He went to school in Cartwright and graduated from Fairview High School in Fairview, Montana with the class of 1964.  After high school Rick was drafted and served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam. He received an honorable discharge from the Marines in November of 1968.  In the Spring of 1969 Rick married Judi Buckley in Fairview and they made their home in Williston, North Dakota where they began their family.  In 1975 he became the proud owner and operator of Verplancke Drilling, a company that drilled water wells.  Rick and Judi were divorced in 1982.  He was later married to LaVonne Sailer in Williston, North Dakota and in 1988 Rick moved his family and business to Buffalo, Wyoming.  He and Vonnie were divorced and in 1996 Rick was married to Kathy Rasmussen and they later divorced.  Rick never officially retired and lived in Buffalo until his death.

Rick loved to visit and tell stories about his family.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.  He found joy in watching old black and white western movies. Rick was very proud of his family and they will greatly miss him.

Rick is survived by two sons, Shawn and his wife Judy and Jim and his wife Jodi all of Buffalo; two daughters, Jodi Verplancke-Davis of Casper and JoAnn Karst of Fairview Montana; one step-daughter Minda Cahhal of Buffalo; one step-son Shane Rasmussen of Shepherd, Montana; one sister Bernadette Montange and her husband Don of Sheridan, Wyoming and fifteen grandchildren; Logan and Taya Verplancke; Tanner and Sierra Verplancke; Jerayah, Jaliegah and Jevon Davis Jr.; Miranda and Mariah Karst; Cade, Zane and Cassie Hengel; Natalie and Alex Cahhal and Ella Rasmussen

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and good friend Judi Verplancke, and one sister Julie Verplancke
