The Washakie County Commissioners were in session on Tuesday, October 4 in the Commissioners room of the Courthouse. Towards the end of the Morning session AMRG Vice President of Business Development with Guardian Flight Shanon Pollock provided an update to the Commissioners regarding how service has been to people in Worland and many of the surrounding areas since Guardian Flight signed a 3 year contract with the County Commissioners in November of 2015 and began fully operating in a new base at the Worland Municipal Airport in February of 2016. Pollock said that they’ve enjoyed being in Worland and that the base has been busier than expected adding that the crews average response time to the patient bedside in Worland is over 13 minutes and indicated that the average response time from their sister bases to pick up people in Worland while the local base is in use is over 51 minutes. Pollock mentioned that the response Guardian Flight has been receiving from the community has been great. Guardian Flight also has sister bases in Lander, Riverton and Gillette. During the afternoon meeting the Commissioners went into Executive Session with Homeland Security and Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Orona and Sheriff Steve Rakness. After the closed door meeting the Commissioners accepted a letter of resignation from Orona effective on Thursday, October 13. Orona said that he resigned for personal reasons. Orona began his position as Washakie County HSEM Coordinator in late May of this year taking over for Kimball Croft who left after over 10 years to accept a similar job in Park County. The Washakie County Commissioners will start advertising for the position.
